Open letter from NADOs to IOC
Drug Free Sport New Zealand (DFSNZ) is pleased and relieved at the decision of the Court of Arbitration to reject the appeal from Russian track and field athletes against their Olympic ban.
DFSNZ chief executive Graeme Steel said the decision is the right one.
"We are all sorry that it should come to this," he says.
"But it is clear that the ban was the right decision in the face of all the evidence and it is comforting to know that the Rules support such a decision. We are now hopeful that this decision will assist the IOC and IPC to promptly extend the ban to the Russian National Olympic Committee and Paralympic Committee to demonstrate that institutionalised, cynical and dedicated cheating on this scale has no place in Olympic sport."
