Anti-doping testing and coronavirus

Monday - March 16th 2020

As the coronavirus situation develops, we wanted to let you know about the measures that we are taking in our testing programme to protect the health of athletes and staff.

Testing will continue, though we're anticipating that in-competition testing will decrease given many fixtures are being cancelled. To ensure the safety of athletes and staff, we’ve instructed our sample collection personnel to take extra precautions with gloves and hand sanitiser, and to maintain distance from the athlete where practical. Our testing staff have also been told to stay home if they are unwell.

If an athlete is self-isolating, then we will consider this on a case-by-case basis, with the required empathy and understanding. Please let us know if you are self-isolating and the reason, such as recent international travel or illness.

RTP/NTP athletes: Please continue to provide Whereabouts information. If you are in self-isolation, then please make a note of this in the Whereabouts system.

Athletes can still be tested anytime, and we’re doing all we can to minimise risks while still protecting clean sport. We will do our best to approach everyone with appropriate levels of empathy and understanding given the wider circumstances. We’ll continue to monitor the situation.
