New Zealand athletes and support personnel are using the Drug Free Sport NZ medication check more than ever to check which common medications are prohibited in sport.
Asthma medication Ventolin is the most searched for medication on the DFSNZ website. Most asthma medications are allowed in sport but some are prohibited. It's important to note that maximum thresholds exist and overuse of asthma medication could return a positive drug test. Athletes are advised to follow the directions as per the manufacturers instructions and what is on the prescription label. It's important to talk with medical professionals if you are using your inhaler more than prescribed.
All athletes and their support personnel are encouraged to check all medications before taking them.
