A coach's part in clean sport
Coaches are essential in creating a culture of clean sport that rejects the use of performance enhancing drugs and methods.
No one will have a greater influence on an athlete’s approach to training and competing than their coach.
Your attitude towards doping and following the rules is crucial in ensuring that the athlete you work with competes clean.
You will be there when athletes experience vulnerable periods in which they may be tempted to dope: when they move to the next level of competition, when they are training for a major competition, or when they are recovering from injury etc.
How you assist your athlete to develop the attitude, strength and resilience to cope with the pressure that comes with high performance sport will influence their ability to reject performance enhancing drugs and methods.
